Our heartbeat
The EC Group heart beats with force and consistency. It motivates us to share our values and seek to empower, uplift, and bring about positive transformation in North America and India. We believe that the purpose of our business ultimately is to uplift the downtrodden and better our community.
The development of a community is a ripple effect. It starts first with empowering an individual; then uplifting the family; and finally transforming the community. We believe in starting this good work by providing the right opportunity to those who need it most.
EC Group International has a heart for the downtrodden and seeks to find creative ways to make a positive impact inside and outside of our offices worldwide. We like to think that our heartbeat can be felt throughout the communities in which we work in many different ways.
AGAPE REHABILITATION CENTER
EC Group has been a long-time supporter of Agape Rehabilitation Center, a fantastic ministry in Chennai that serves the physically disabled community. Agape’s goal is to help disabled persons gain economic independence. They do this through providing computer training and helping them find employment, which is nearly impossible for disabled people in India.
EC Group also seeks to hire workers with disabilities when possible. While highly qualified, these individuals have often experienced workplace discrimination. We have found that employees with disabilities often deeply appreciate the opportunity to join our positive work environment.
EC Group employees also lead the way with many community events. We are incredibly proud of our employees and the leadership and compassion that they continue to demonstrate within our communities.
LITTLE HEARTS
The heartbeat of EC Group certainly can be heard at Little Hearts, a home for mentally and physically disabled individuals of all ages in Chennai, India. The orphanage is home to approximately 70 children, many of which have been found after being abandoned.
EC Group employees were compelled to serve these neglected people after encountering their home only once. We enjoy spending time with the residents, singing, playing games, coloring, creating funny masks, and sharing treats like ice cream, to bring even a little joy to their day. Our team has been so moved by the needs of the Little Hearts residents, that we financially support the organization and refer candidates to the home for admission.
EC GROUP HEALTHCARE OUTREACH
EC Group Healthcare Outreach was a joint venture by EC Group and Laymen’s Evangelical Fellowship to conduct a free medical camp for residents of five remote villages on the outskirts of Chennai, India. After intense preparations, our efforts resulted in the provision of medical care to more than 450 people.
Most of the participants had never seen a doctor or received timely help for their illnesses. Our employees visited each residence, talked to the family members about the medical camp, encouraged them to come, and provided transportation to and from the camp.
It was amazing how even the smallest efforts created life-changing results. For instance, we provided eyeglasses to several people based on their exams. These individuals were amazed at what was visible through their new lenses after living for many years with poor vision.
Through the ECHO experience, our team realized that we could be a blessing and impact lives, both as individuals and as a company.
GIHON MISSION CENTER
We want to reach out into the community through our team and make a difference. And, that is exactly what happened when the EC Group staff discovered the extreme poverty faced by the children who live at Gihon Mission Center. This incredible organization provides abandoned and homeless children with food, safe shelter, education, and a nurturing family environment in which to grow and thrive.
The employees of EC Group arranged a visit to spend time with the children. We prepared group and one-on-one activities, as well as financial support for essentials and food. Our team provides ongoing support with financial contributions, prayers for the children and the workers, and frequent visits with the children, encouraging them each to live up to their own unique potential.
CHRISTIME
For last year’s Christime event, organized by the Consortium of Professionals for Christ, the EC Group employees pooled their resources and rented a merry-go-round! About 400 residents from retirement and children’s homes in and around Chennai come together to enjoy this daylong festival.
Our merry-go-round was a smashing success! We made sure that the children could enjoy as many rides as they wished. Our team also organized a variety of children’s games and helped out backstage with the bands that performed at the event and shared their message of hope with the audience.
